The Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics (SGTF) Composites Group, Niagara Falls, N.Y., has launched a range of "put-in-place" reinforcing fabrics with a light coating of low-tack adhesive on one or both sides. Fabricators can put dry fabrics into the mold for RTM or vacuum infusion and be confident that they will remain in place. The fabrics are said to be of particular benefit on large molds with sloping surfaces. Fabrics can be pulled off and repositioned as needed. Unlike competing products, SGTF low-tack adhesive fabrics require no release paper, eliminating waste. All SGTF reinforcements are now available in tackified form, including multiaxials, woven roving, and specialty 3D fabrics.
