The latest permeation instrument from Mocon, Minneapolis, is said to redefine oxygen transmission rate testing for all types of barrier materials, making it ideal for testing food and pharmaceutical plastic packaging structures and medical devices. A fully-automated and reportedly very user-friendly system, Ox-Tran Model 2/22 H features advanced technology and design enhancements that result in significantly reduced test times, depending on barrier quality.
Also, the new instrument’s repeatability specification has been improved 2.5 times over the industry standard Ox-Tran Model 2/21. Automation features include relative humidity, temperature, pressure, and flow and testing which are easily set via the integrated and intuitive touch screen. When testing film with unknown characteristics, the auto test feature determines the optimal parameters and conducts the test to completion. Sequential testing allows for a film to be tested at multiple temperature/relative humidity conditions with no operator involvement.
