At K 2013, Germany’s Zwick/Roell (U.S. office in Kennesaw, Ga.) will exhibit its Xflow series of extrusion plastometers, which characterize mass-flow rate (MFR) and melt volume-flow rate (MVR) of thermoplastics. These include the Aflow system (photo) launched two years ago, which is particularly well-suited to compounders and material suppliers that must maintain a rapid pace of testing without sacrificing accuracy. Pushbutton cleaning and defined precompacting routines free up operators, while the system’s automatic parameter control selects the test parameters to minimize measurement errors. Time-saving multi-stage tests according to ASTM D1238 Method D are possible with a single barrel filling.
Agr International, Butler, Pa., will feature the new Opti-Check vision-based inspection system for bottles and containers transported on a conveyor line. This multi-camera system (shown at NPE2012) checks the entire container, including seal surface, sidewall, base, label, and neck finish. Versions are available for opaque and transparent containers.
