DME Co., Madison Heights, Mich., has introduced new mold components and upgraded its web service.
•Moldmakers can save time and labor costs with new pre-machined insulator sheets designed for standard mold bases. They come with the highest level of pre-machined features in the marketplace, DME says, with mounting holes and clearance holes for the locating ring and assembly screws. The asbestos-free sheets are suitable for service temperatures up to 550 F. They come in 0.25- and 0.5-in. standard thicknesses and are now machined 1/16-in. shorter on all sides to prevent damage during mold handling.
•Molders with clean-room, corrosive, or high-humidity environments can now order stainless-steel mold bases in any configuration. Average lead time is five days for bases with three-piece housing, return pins, locating ring, sprue bushing, and ejector-housing cover.
•DME has upgraded its online ordering system for mold bases and components for faster searches, easier navigation (products are grouped in popular categories), and free ground shipping for small or lightweight products.

It’s not just for successful mold filling and cooling. Simulation can help predict and overcome cosmetic defects in molded parts.
