DuPont Engineering Polymers, Wilmington, Del., has introduced 12 new grades of TPE and engineering resins for non-implantable devices and diagnostic or pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment. Nine new grades of Hytrel polyester TPE range from flexible to rigid with Shore D hardness from 40 to 82. Uses include soft-touch grips, valves, seals, springs, and tubing. The three other grades are a Delrin acetal with very low volatile emissions, a Zytel nylon with low moisture absorption, and a Zenite LCP with high barrier properties and chemical inertness. The LCP is particularly suited to protecting pharmaceuticals against oxygen and water vapor.
