A new line of TPE alloys from GLS, McHenry, Ill., is designed to replace thermoset rubber in medical gaskets and stoppers. Four new Versaflex grades are said to meet the requirements of USP Class IV and ISO 10993. For dynamic-seal gaskets, Versaflex HC 2110-57B is a 57 Shore A grade with good compression set and HDT. It is suitable for single-use devices such as pre-filled autoclaved syringes. Another grade, Versaflex HC 2110-54B, offers low coefficient of friction for lower-cost disposables that don’t require autoclaving. For static-seal stoppers, two new grades resist coring (material breakoff) and are autoclavable. Versaflex HC 2132-51N reportedly provides excellent oxygen and moisture barrier approaching that of butyl rubber for vacuum-sealed blood collection and pharmaceutical containers. Versaflex HC 2110-43N has excellent reseal performance and good compression set for stoppers of fluid-delivery devices such as IV bottles and vials. (815) 385-8500 • www.glscorp.com
