The 2000LP family of low-power ultrasonic systems from Branson Ultrasonics Corp., Danbury, Conn., is a new offering for applications with power requirements of 500 watts or less. The power supply and controller, usable with Branson’s new 2000 Series hand welder, have a digital LED display, digital control of amplitude and other parameters, and visual/audible alarms. The 2000LP provides auto tuning and stores horn frequency at the end of each weld. Parameters of the last cycle are also stored, even if the power is turned off. Three frequencies are available: 20 kHz at 150 and 500 W, 30 kHz at 500 W, and 40 kHz at 150 and 500 W. Applications include spot welding and cutting of composite materials.
