New ultrasonic welding systems unveiled at the NPE show in Chicago feature enhanced communications, remote networking, and greater power. The new 2000X Series from Branson Ultrasonics Corp., Danbury, Conn., is a digital unit with a color touchscreen interface. The 20-kHz unit has higher power for faster welds and greater throughput. It comes with power levels of 1250 to 4000 watts vs. a maximum of 3300W for the previous 2000 Series. Branson also introduced a 6000W ultrasonic power supply and acoustic stack, claimed to be the most powerful system in the industry. Available in 15- and 20-kHz models, this system welds larger parts up to 20-in. long and permits faster welds.
