Vinyl TPE Now Comes In Low-Gloss Version

Teknor Apex Co., Pawtucket, R.I., has introduced a low-gloss version of its Flexalloy vinyl-based TPE.

Teknor Apex Co., Pawtucket, R.I., has introduced a low-gloss version of its Flexalloy vinyl-based TPE. Flexalloy 9750 compounds have properties similar to those of general-purpose Flexalloy 9100 but the matte finish offers aesthetic advantages in certain consumer products and furniture trim. Unlike glossy products that tend to block or stick to each other, low-gloss Flexalloy compounds exhibit anti-blocking properties that ease handling of films such as bin liners, flexible “accordion” hoses on vacuum cleaners, and mating parts such as weather-stripping. Flexalloy compounds are based on Teknor Apex’s proprietary ultra-high-molecular-weight PVC. Low-gloss grades are available with Shore A hardness from 35 to 80.
