A new roller for laminating, embossing, winding, slitting and coating, uses stretchable elastic cords on the roll face to remove web wrinkles. The Expander Roll from Webex, Neenah, Wis., has specially engineered cams that stretch the surface cords in contact with the web as the roll turns. This stretching action pulls gently from the center of the web to the outer edges, removing wrinkles in the process. The roll is available with a drive pulley for low-tension applications.
