Two suppliers of camera arrays for automatic sheet/film inspection and defect control recently delivered their widest arrays ever. I2s Line Scan in France (U.S. office in Orange, Conn.) delivered two systems in the past year for 300-in.-wide webs, one to Asia, the other to the U.S. Each has a 10-camera array. I2s also added artificial intelligence that “learns” to recognize and classify defects. And in the last six months, Isra Vision System in Duluth, Ga., delivered its largest inspection system, with 10 cameras for a 340-in.-wide web. Meanwhile, Cognex Corp. in Natick, Mass., has installed systems for BOPP webs up to 390 in. wide with multiple inspection locations and 10 to 20 cameras per location.
