It has been a big month for plastics machinery acquisitions. The latest news is that Hillenbrand, Inc., Batesville, Ind., agreed to acquire the Coperion Group of Stuttgart, Germany, from a German private-equity company. Hillenbrand is a global, diversified industrial company. Coperion, a leading maker of compounding equipment and material-handling systems (U.S. office in Ramsey, N.J.), will join Hillenbrand’s Process Equipment Group, which includes K-Tron, the producer of feeding and pneumatic conveying equipment, as well as Rotex, a maker of screeners and sifters, and TerraSource Global, which makes machinery used for size reduction, conveying, and screening by the mining and forestry industries.
