WEB EXCLUSIVE: Sylvin Technologies Inc., Denver, Pa., a compounder of flexible and semi-rigid PVC, has now expanded into rigid PVC compounds. The company recently added a twin-screw compounding line for rigids in response to customer requests. It currently offers six standard rigid grades as well as custom formulations, both available in small quantities:
•RP3201 is for g-p profile extrusion;
•RP 3300 is for g-p injection molding;
•RP 3107 Clear 8414 is for extrusion of point-of-purchase (POP) price-tag displays and other clear profiles;
•RP 3403 White 1518 is for outdoor profiles that require excellent color retention, such as windows and
sports equipment;
•RP 3504 White is an outdoor injection grade for fence caps, pool fittings, etc.;
•RP 3301 is an high-flow grade for intricate injection molded parts.
Material behavior is fundamentally determined by the equivalence of time and temperature. But that principle tends to be lost on processors and designers. Here’s some guidance.
