The new 4242 berry-basket tooling system from Irwin Research & Development Inc., Yakima, Wash., consolidates pre-punch and trimming operations into one station. Typically, most berry baskets go through a pre-punch station for venting and then a separate trim station. This tool for solid sheet also expands Irwin’s product offering beyond its usual focus on foam.
The system features an 18-cavity forming mold with fixed sheet clamp and servo plug assist, plus a trim tool with pre-punch for vents. The tooling design is said to have low air usage.
