Show organizer SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association reports that currently booked booths will fill more than 1,041,000 net ft2 (106,000 m2) of exhibit space, the amount used at NPE2000, the largest NPE on the books until now. SPI expects an additional 10,000 ft2 (930 m2) to be occupied before the show floor opens on March 23, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

SPI said equipment companies are opting for larger booths, which will allow more equipment and running machinery at the show. More than 600 companies will have equipment at their booths and over 400 will be operating systems, according to SPI.

SPI surveyed equipment companies exhibiting at NPE2015 with the 50 largest booths, and several offered insights on their exhibition plans. Absolute Haitian, the exclusive North American distributor of Haitian injection molding machines, will have a 25% larger booth at NPE2015, and will be running four injection molding machines, including a high-speed all-electric unit for cap and closure production.

Welding equipment supplier Branson Ultrasonic will have at least 21 fully-operating assembly stations at the show, including vibration, ultrasonic, laser, infrared, and spin-welding technologies.

Injection molding machine and automation supplier Engel will have eight molding cells in Orlando, one more than it brought to NPE2012. Application areas include automotive, medical, packaging, teletronics, and technical molding , including a molding of a continuous-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic brake pedal.

KraussMaffei Group, which supplies injection molding, extrusion and polyurethane processing technologies, will have a larger booth at NPE2015. It will also display a composite product, displaying a process that combines injection molding and thermoforming of composite sheets, while its Netstal brand will mold 44-oz stadium cups, as well as 16-oz containers with cycles of 5.5 seconds on a 4 + 4 cavity mold.

Sumitomo (SHI) Demag will bring nine machines to Orlando, including one aiming to display world record speed in bottle cap production. From a 96-cavity mold, the company estimates that every hour the machine will mold more than 180,000 1.3-gram HDPE water bottle caps with tamper-evident band, in a cycle time of less than two seconds.

UBE Machinery noted that it will show more equipment at NPE2015 due to the “great attendance and excellent response to NPE2012.” Among the equipment will be a dry-cycling 1,000-ton full-servo hydraulic molding machine, equipped with a SmartHeat barrel from Nordson Xaloy.

Injection molding machine, automation and auxiliary supplier Wittmann Battenfeld has expanded its total show footprint by 10% compared to NPE2012. Its display will include multiple turnkey injection molding cells and a new smartphone app that enables molders to monitor the status of all of their production cells and robots.

Yushin America will have about 30% more space than in 2012 and double the number of injection molding machines. The company explained that attendees at the last NPE requested more running cells versus static displays. Yushin has responded with more robots, included ones installed on machines of partner OEMs throughout the West Hall.

Machinery and component supplier Milacron Inc. set the tone for the show early, signing up for a 24,600 ft2 space, which constitutes the largest booth in NPE history.

SPI said that overall NPE2015 will have more than 2,000 exhibitors and will host more than 60,000 plastics professionals from 120 countries.
