All Electric Injection Molding Machine

In all electric injection molding machines, (AEIMM) all process relevant movements (recovery, injection, mold open/close) are executed via electric (servo) motors. No hydraulic systems are used with this type of machine for any movements unless the machine is equipped with an external hydraulic power pack for movements such as core pulls. The use of electric motors allows for a highly energy efficient machine as the motors are only actuated when the movement is needed. Also, the innovative energy recovery system captures kinetic energy, stores it, and this energy can be used to power the machine.

Once started as small machines for products on niche markets over 30 years ago, all electric injection molding machines now cover almost half of the market. They are available in every possible size range and for a huge variety of applications.

Advantages of all electric plastic injection molding machines:

  • High repeatability and precision - electric units are digitally controlled and therefore the production process is predictable, and positioning accuracy is extremely high (of ± 0.0001 in)
  • Energy efficiency - energy is only used during machine movements, which can lead to energy savings from 30% to 70%
  • Faster and more efficient process because of ability to do parallel movements
  • Shorter start-up times because of less components and fluids (oil) that need to warm up
  • Usually quieter operation (< 65 dbA)
  • Ideal for cleanroom production - no leakage of oil
  • Cost savings over the time of production – lower operation costs due to energy savings, less consumable expenses like oil filter change, lower unit costs and less material costs
  • Typically higher injection speeds (up to 800 mm/sec) and even faster clamp motion
