ACI Plastics Unveils $10 Million Recycling Expansion in Michigan
Investment backed by grants from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
ACI Plastics unveiled its new recycling facility in Flint, Michigan. The company announced the facility will create 25-30 new jobs and will have capacity to process 24 million lb/yr of post consumer plastic film, expandable by an additional 24 million lb/yr if supported by demand. The expansion is expected to make ACI Plastics the largest processor of post consumer recycled plastic in Michigan.

The company is partnering with Ravago, which will ship its recycled pellets to customers throughout the US. Its source material comes from large retailers including Meijer, Amazon, and WalMart.
ACI Plastics has four locations, two in Flint and one each in South Carolina and Nebraska. The company has received funding support for its investment through a $300,000 Renew Michigan infrastructure grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and a $150,000 Business Development Program grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Michigan has set a goal of raising the statewide recycling rate to 30% by 2025 and 45% by 2030. Renew Michigan funding supports the effort by supporting recycling infrastructure, improving recyclable material quality, and promoting the development of a circular economy. According to a 2022 EGLE analysis, recycling in Michigan has already increased 35.4% from pre-2019 levels.
