A new line of cavity temperature sensors that do not contact the injection molded plastic is new from Priamus System Technologies LLC, Brunswick, Ohio. Its Prisolaris sensors mount just under the tool surface. As a result, they avoid flashing, do not experience abrasion, and do not require front machining. Contact-less cavity temperature measuring offers new monitoring and control possibilities in hot-runner applications where a sensor mark is unacceptable. Priamus says temperature sensors allow faster and more consistent automatic switchover from filling to holding because the sensors can detect the melt front immediately as it passes.
