A new melt pump from Maag Automatik (U.S. office in Charlotte, N.C.) reportedly can run at higher speeds without raising melt temperature. Maag says this is attributable to “tremendous improvements” in the volumetric efficiency of the device. Moreover, the pressure-building capability is said to be vastly improved, even at lower speed, increasing the window between minimum and maximum production rates. The pump offers up to 50% higher flow rate on comparable products, Maag says.
