New, more intuitive software on Conair's MedLine puller allows it to switch from straight to bump tubing (or vice versa) with a push of a button. ID dimension during straight tube production is formed by internal air pressure in the die, controlled by a new 3-axis laser OD Gauge from Zumbach Electronics, Mt. Kisco, N.Y. To form bump tubing, the Zumbach control is disabled while Conair's puller, which has servo drives on upper and lower belts and twin planetary gear reducers, automatically decelerates to form the bump, then accelerates again. Conair demonstrated the puller at the recent MD&M East show in N.Y.C., where it made TPU tube with 0.06- to 0.07-in. OD and 0.006-in wall thickness. Conair: (412) 312-6000/www.conair.com .
