During the Drinktec 2013 show in Munich last month, Netstal (U.S. office in Florence, Ky.) presented three new molding systems. For PET preforms, two intermediate sizes of PET-Line systems made their debut. The PET-Line 2400 (240 metric tons) and PET-Line 4000 (400 m.t., displayed at the Netstal factory) are both hydraulically driven toggle presses with energy-saving electric, variable-speed Eco Powerunit driving the pump.

New developments include increased throughput on the injection unit and an improved part remover. At Drinktec, the PET-Line 2400 molded half-liter lightweight preforms in 72 cavities on a 5.4-sec cycle.

Netstal also demonstrated the new Elion 4200 (420 m.t.) with hybrid drive and Eco Powerunit. It employs the high-performance hydraulic injection unit of the Evos series, with speeds up to 2000 mm/sec. At the show, it molded 29/25 lightweight HDPE water caps in 96 cavities on a 2.0-sec cycle.
