A new two-stage rotary stretch-blow machine from Krones Inc., Franklin, Wis., offers higher output in a compact machine footprint for production of PET bottles up to 1.5 liters. The Contiform S30M features 30 blowing stations on the mechanical platform of a machine that is usually designed for 20 or 24 stations and containers up to 3L. The footprint of the S30M (21.4 x 44.3 ft) is the same as for the 20-24 station machine except for a linear heating module that is slightly longer. The blowing wheel can accommodate more stations because of their smaller diameter. With an output of 1800 bottles/hr per molding station, the S30M puts out 54,000 PET bottles/hr up to 1.5L with diameters up to 95 mm.
