Thermylene SWP (Stress Whitening Prevention) is a new specialty compounded polypropylene that reportedly won’t show signs of stress whitening when subjected over time to pressure and wear and tear. Formulated by Asahi Kasei Plastics North America Inc., Fowlerville, Mich., Thermylene SWP is expected to open the door for PP to applications previously using more costly nylon. One of the first customers is Haworth in Holland, Mich., which uses 10 colors of this PP compound for its Very brand of seating.
