An enterprise product cost management platform has added the capability of delivering timely and actionable product cost and profitability data to engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing. Cost Insight for aPriori gives companies access to product cost information, enabling real-time decisions based on detailed product cost data.

Noting that “advanced reporting and analytics are becoming a critical component of effective product cost management,” aPriori stated in a release that the new capability allows more informed cost decision making at all levels of the manufacturing organization.

aPriori’s software utilizes CAD and intelligent cost models to determine feasible manufacturing methods and product costs while generating manufacturing analysis and cost estimates that quantify the impact of changes to product design, materials, manufacturing processes, volumes and location.

aPriori also enables manufacturers to leverage product cost data hosted in other enterprise applications to communicate with all the organizations involved in product definition and delivery. This includes importing Bills of Materials (BOMs) from ERP, PLM or other enterprise applications.

The system is completely web-enabled for anytime, anywhere access including mobile. Reporting of product data at the component and process/operation level are possible, including production, ad hoc, and dashboard reports. Key program features include:

  • A reporting data mart with automated/scheduled export of data from the aPriori platform
  • Export, transform, and load (ETL) data integration for connecting aPriori to other enterprise systems and applications
  • Business intelligence (BI) tools including ad hoc reporting, dashboard creation and a production report authoring tool
  • Out-of-the-box reports and dashboards to support processes such as outlier analysis and product cost tracking
