Static Charging System For In-Mold Labels

A compact electrostatic charging system for in-mold labeling (IML) is claimed to provide consistent pinning power regardless of changes in ambient conditions or variations in label properties.

A compact electrostatic charging system for in-mold labeling (IML) is claimed to provide consistent pinning power regardless of changes in ambient conditions or variations in label properties. Newly available from MKS Ion Industrial, Windsor Locks, Conn., the system is small enough to mount on a robot arm, eliminating the need for long, high-voltage cables stretching across the work area to remotely mounted charge generators. The system consists of a model 7020 charge generator which weighs just over 2 lb and can deliver 20,000 V output at 1.5 mA charging current, along with model 7401 charging bars, which measure 1.5 x 0.75 in. and come in lengths starting at 3 in.
