A new high-speed cut-sheet thermoformer features an 80° tilting mold for producing water and yogurt cups of PP, HIPS, and PET. The AMP 570GP thermoformer from Amut S.p.A., in Italy, will be unveiled in October at the K show in Dusseldorf. (Amut North America is in Woodbridge, Ont.) The 30-cavity unit runs at 35 cycles/min and produces 240-cc cups at 55,000/hr. With a forming area of 570 x 450 mm, it has twice the output of a previous tilt-mold unit. Max. clamp force is 40 tons and draw depth is up to 150 mm. The unit handles sheet up to 600 mm wide and 0.2 to 2 mm thick.
