The new GX series ultrasonic power supplies from Sonics & Materials Inc., Newtown, Conn., are said to offer advances in control, power, and ease of use. Designed for Sonics' 15-, 20-, and 40-kHz welders, these ultrasonic generators are available with 700 to 2200 watts. The units have automatic frequency tuning (matching the generator to the "stack" frequency) and a convenient horn frequency display. Keypad controls are redesigned with simple, easy-to-understand displays and intuitive, logical command flow. The GX series offers a choice of welding by digital time, energy, and/or distance, as well as new digital amplitude control. GX units are 30% smaller than previous E and F models.
