Injection molding machine manufacturer Plustech Inc. has expanded its North American operations beyond Chicago, opening a parts and product showroom near Los Angeles, in Yorba Linda, Calif. Sodick IMM Plustech will host an open house to celebrate its newest facility on July 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Plustech will showcase its technology, including the cell that molded Plastics Technology magazine’s Hot Shots Award-winning part. The showcase part will be molded on a Sodick GL30A-LP molding machine with 4.5 cm3 injection unit, including the Super-Fast Response LP Model for fast fill times. The mold is supplied by Matrix Tool, with LCP resin from Sumitomo Chemical. The cell also includes a Star Automation robot and a Matsui hopper dryer and temperature control unit.

In a release, Plustech’s national sales manager, Len Hampton, said the move to add approximately 8500 ft2 on the West Coast will help it support existing customers in the region, with more training opportunities and faster service.

Doing business in North America for more than 20 years, Plustech is a joint venture between SODICK Company Limited and Yamazen Inc. Plustech is also co-located with a Yamazen technical center in Newington, Conn., and recently relocated its U.S. base to a new 138,000-ft2 facility in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
