Ineos Nitriles Launches Biobased Acrylonitrile
The company’s Invireo is said to deliver a 90% lower carbon footprint compared to conventionally produced acrylonitrile.
Ineos Nitriles has launched new biobased acrylonitrile, branded Invireo, which is said to deliver a 90% lower carbon footprint compared to conventionally produced acrylonitrile. Manufactured at Ineos Nitriles’ site in Cologne Germany, Invireo is made using bioattributed propylene, which enables the replacement of fossil fuel resources.
InvireoTM Products are certified by ISCC Plus (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) and RSB (Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials) as delivering a 100% substitution of fossil-based propylene feedstock in its production system, enabling a lower carbon footprint compared to conventionally produced products. Acrylonitrile is a key component of styrenic engineering resins such as ABS and SAN and styrenic-based TPEs, and is successfully used in, a variety of industrial applications such as wind turbines, automotive, aerospace, textile, chemicals for special applications and sporting goods.
