WEB EXCLUSIVE: Four antistatic grades have expanded the Maxelast line of styrenic-based TPEs available from Alliance Polymers and Services LLC, Romulus, Mich. The new P Series is designed for consumer goods, sports equipment, and electronic products where permanent anti-static/ESD properties are sought. It can be used either for stand-alone applications or for overmolding onto PP.
Using proprietary antistatic technology and no carbon black, these TPE formulations provide resistivity down to 1010 ohm/sq. They are available in four Shore A hardnesses—65, 75, 80 and 90—and are fully colorable for easy product identification. These formulations are said to be cost-competitive with traditional antistatic coatings or “blooming” additives.
