Polypropylene resin shipments to Formerra and Milliken are first from flagship facility in Ohio.

Purecycle began shipping recycled postindustrial PP to Milliken and Formerra. Purecycle uses a recycling process that uses solvent but leaves polymer molecules intact, creating a recycled resin free of additives and colorants.

The shipment to Formerra marked the first recycled PP resin commercial shipment from the company. Formerra is the primary authorized North American distributor of Purecycle’s PP product, called PureFive. The shipment to Milliken will enable that company to trial its sustainable concentrate additive.

According to Purecycle, PureFive will have a variety of commercial applications in various markets because of its adjustable melt flow rates and the effective removal of color and odor.

“This first shipment of resin will provide customers with a no-compromise solution and help them meet both the challenging technical requirements and their sustainability goals,” says Purecycle CEO Dustin Olsen.

Purecycle previously announced in June the production of the first PP pellets at the Ironton facility.
