Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, Tenn., will no longer offer diethyl phthlalate (DEP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) plasticizers as of the end of this year. Eastman says the recent acquisition of Genovique Specialties and the Benzoflex family of benzoate plasticizers, plus the launch of its proprietary Eastman DBT non-phthalate plasticizer for markets outside the U.S., provide a broad offering of non-phthalate alternatives in the fast-fusing, high-solvating segment. Eastman still offers DOP and a DOP/dibenzoate blend, as well as a wide range of other plasticizers.
