Energy Company Plans to Feed Recycling Scrap Into Fuel Production
Clean Planet Energy reaches agreement with KW Plastics to Feed its Low-Sulfur Fuel Plants
UK-based Clean Planet Energy has announced an agreement with recycler KW Plastics to purchase feedstock for its planned plant in Alabama. The Alabama “EcoPlant” is one of six facilities planned for North America. The company also has plans to develop two plants in Southeast Asia and six in Europe, in addition to its first plant, which is already under construction in Teeside, UK.
KW Headquarters is also located in Alabama, where Clean Planet Energy plans to build a plant.

The agreement is for offtake of up to 20,000 ton/yr of plastic scrap from KW, which will be fed into its pyrolysis processes for creating hydrocarbon fuels. These include low-sulfur diesel, fuel oil, jet fuel, and naptha. Naptha can also be used in production of new plastics.
Clean Planet Energy anticipates that the proximity of its facility to KW Plastics will help supply chain efficiency, minimizing the logistical energy footprint. KW, located in Troy, AL, recycles PP and HDPE from throughout the United States, processing up to 1 billion lb/yr. Its mechanical recycling process cannot accept all plastic waste, and it is this scrap that will be diverted to the Clean Planet Energy Ecoplant.
