New Multicomponent Injection Molding Machine Line Launches

Taiwan’s FCS Group has launched a new multi-component press technology: the X-type parallel quartet injection molding machine. Part of FCS’s large 2K machine line, the first offering—the GW-1600R—is a two-platen multi-component offering, with one machine already delivered to a Chinese automotive light supplier.

Noting that half of the headlamps currently made for cars utilize a halogen and LED combo and that the functionality of headlamps is being improved in size, precision and stability, multi-material machines are now more sought after by headlamp suppliers, according to FCS.

In response to this growing demand, FCS has launched the X-type parallel quartet multi-component injection machine. Compared with the previous L-type quartet-injection solution, the X-type has a smaller footprint and more concentrated injection structure. Its four injection units can be applied to a wide range of molds, and thus two-, three- and four-component products can be flexibly produced.

The machine’s four injection units are arranged in parallel on the fixed mold side. Their concentrated structure and flexible layout allow the press to be reconfigured for molding a diversity of products. The injection units can be specified based on mold requirements. Two-, three-, and four-component products can be molded without moving or changing the injection units. The machine features a high accuracy servo rotary table that can be rotated to accommodate multiple angles and tasks. Additionally, it features precise positioning and high-speed operation. FCS says it plans on adding tonnages to the line going forward.
