Logoplaste will invest $35 million to expand its facility in Kansas City, making it the company’s new U.S. manufacturing and distribution hub.

Originally opened in July 2013 to supply Procter & Gamble, the Kansas City plant, which began with 34 employees, utilizes stretch blow molding to supply the home care market. A press release from the office of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon states that the expansion is expected to create 110 new jobs over the next five years.

Beginning in 2016, Logoplaste will initiate recruiting for new positions resulting from the expansion, including management, technician and manufacturing roles. Once fully staffed, the company expects 185 total employees.

Logoplaste has 67 facilities in four continents and 17 countries, producing rigid plastic packaging for a variety of customers and industries including the food and beverage, personal care, household care and oil and lubricant sectors. According to the company, it has more than 350 machines and 2000 employees.

The company will relocate of some installed capacity from its Plainfield, Ill. plant as part of the expansion, in addition to installing new equipment and upgrading the facility. The release noted that new “blowing and injection equipment” is needed to meet the demands of local and out-of-state customers, with the end result being the Missouri facility will be Logoplaste’s new U.S. manufacturing and distribution hub.

In June, the company installed a SIDEL SBO1 stretch blow molding machine at its Logoplaste Innovation Lab in Plainfield, Ill. In 2009, Logoplaste partnered with global spirits manufacturer, Diageo, to build an on-site PET production facility. Fully operational by December 2010, that operation was specified to produce enough PET bottles to meet the majority of Diageo’s bottling needs at the Plainfield site, according to Logoplaste. The company employs through-the-wall just-in-time production for several customers globally.
