RSP, a Milwaukee-area contract manufacturer, has partnered with Oceanworks to offer customers recycled plastics recovered or diverted from oceans and rivers. Oceanworks uses blockchain to ensure authenticity, so RSP customers who opt for recycled plastics know they are using material that has been diverted or collected from oceans and rivers around the world, from Alaska to India.

The Oceanworks Impac+ program helps companies to shift from virgin plastic to recycled plastics, enabling them to reach their sustainability goals and appeal to consumers, providing an opportunity to choose products that align with their values.

RSP has already worked with over 40 companies, using 80,000 tons of recycled plastic diverted from waterways. According to RSP CEO Mike Ryan, the carbon impact is equivalent to the amount generated by burning 15,753 gallons of gasoline, or alternately the amount sequestered by 120 acres of trees in a year.

RSP has spent five years testing the material differences between virgin and recycled plastics, in order to make the transition as seamless as possible for its customers. According to the company, customer feedback has been positive.

RSP offerings include injection molded, blow molded, and extruded marine plastic materials. Some are even available as food-grade.
