LS Mtron IMM Expands Chicago Facility
The maker of injection molding machines has expanded its technical center outside of Chicago, taking over an entire building it had shared since 2018.
LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines, Duluth, Georgia, has expanded its Chicago Technical Center in Wood Dale, Illinois, now fully occupying the entire 25,000-ft2 building, according to a company spokesperson. The Chicago branch of the South Korean injection molding machine manufacturer had previously used half of the building space, which it’s been in since 2018.
The expanded footprint includes a 5,000-ft2 showroom, the spokesperson tells Plastics Technology. In a release, LS Mtron said the expanded presence will help it satisfy growing customer service demands, as well as expand its existing engineering, project management, sales and service departments.
“We already have space for our R&D engineer, as well as our electronics and software engineers, who have come from our South Korean headquarters to be closer to our North American customers to ensure immediate response for sales and aftermarket support,” the spokesperson tells PT. The Wood Dale office is also home to the American regional sales manager, a sales assistant and a sales coordinator from South Korea. From the support side, the site has an American service manager and two service engineers.
The showroom currently holds five fully powered injection molding machines for “show and tell,” according to LS Mtron, including all-electric and servo-hydraulic machines in horizontal and vertical formats. Wood Dale’s warehouse facility can hold anywhere from 10 to 20 stock machines, ranging in clamp force from 50-600 tons. The company tells PT that improvements for the showroom are underway.
