Turkish Company Expands Into PET Recycling With New Line
PET Washing Line From Herbold Meckesheim Will Enable Bottle-to-Bottle Operation
A new Herbold Meckesheim washing line is being delivered and built at Doga in Kirklareli, Turkey. Doga Group, a company active in the construction sector, will produce rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) flakes for bottle-to-bottle applications.

After commissioning, the washing system is expected to produce a daily output of 100 metric tons of PET recyclate. Herbold’s newest line includes key components for presorting as part of the delivery, such as the EWS 45/160 BA debaler or drum bottle wash unit HWTS 180/750. The cleaning process begins with two SMS 80/160-f7-2 SB3 force-fed granulators, the largest in the Herbold portfolio. The hot washing and hydrocyclone stages, as well as the subsequent classifiers, are designed for the required throughput. Three step dryers of size HVST 150/150 are installed in the plant to achieve maximum capacity while minimizing fines. The recycling line is also equipped with water treatment.
“As Doga Group, we are proud to add the recycling sector to our activities in fields such as real estate, construction, mining and textiles,” says Omer Ayvacı, chairman of the board at the Doga Group. “In today's world, where the concepts of environmentally friendly production are becoming increasingly important, we aim to start rPET flakes production with completely environmentally friendly solutions with our state-of-the-art machinery park as of the beginning of next year. We are confident that we will meet the needs of the sector with Herbold Meckesheim, a company that has mechanical recycling technology accepted all over the world. With the technical information, support and know-how provided by Herbold Meckesheim, we know that we will realize the highest quality rPET flakes production in the most efficient way.”
Herbold Meckesheim was acquired by Coperion parent Hillenbrand in 2022, and is now part of Coperion's recycling business unit.
