Graphene-Infused LLDPE Composites for Rotomolding
Lyten’s new graphene-infusion LLDPE composites being explored for a range of applications where they can replace other plastics and even metals.
A line of specialty polyolefin composites has been introduced by Lyten, a California-based advanced materials and applications manufacturer and inventor of the novel Lyten 3D Graphene, a pristine, innately 3-dimensional graphene that has been designed into Li-S batteries (used in electric vehicles, aerospace and defense applications), advanced composite systems, and chemical and passive sensors. Based on a an LLDPE resin system infused with the proprietary carbon-based Lyten 3D Graphene, the new LytR series of composites has been formulated and engineered to be used on existing plastics rotomolding equipment. Development is also underway for other fabrication areas of composites.
Meanwhile, the company has announced that Pelican Products, a renowned maker of high-durability protective cases, will incorporate LytR into a new generation of transport cases, including cases intended for U.S. military forces. The infusion of LytR technology will allow Pelican to manufacture cases up to 50% lighter, and enable customers to reduce bodily strain, reduce transportation and fuel costs, increase payload capacity, and reduce their carbon footprint.
Due to the enhanced properties of LytR material, Lyten is exploring a broad range of possibilities with customers from various industries and types of products, where it can replace other type of polymer systems and potentially metals in certain applications.
