DAK to Buy Wellman’s PET Business

Move follows DAK purchase of Eastman's PET operation.

DAK Americas LLC, Charlotte, N.C., has taken yet another step in an effort to be the major player in PET. Last month, the company agreed to buy the PET business of Wellman Inc., including production facilities in Bay St. Louis, Miss., which have capacity of about 950 million lb/yr. In February, DAK completed its purchase of the integrated PET and PTA business of Eastman Chemical Co. Tenn.
