PCS Company Adds Machining Capacity, Introduces Products
The supplier of mold components announced the addition of a five-axis Makino A500z to its production site and brought a range of products to PTXPO.
PCS Company (Fraser, Michigan) is providing a show debut for several injection molding products at PTXPO (Booth 433; March 17-19; Rosemont, Illinois) including inch and metric ranges of stainless steel ejector pins. The company also announced the purchase of a five-axis Makino A500z machining center to its production portfolio, which the company says enables it to improve lead time and pricing for its customers.
PCS President Angela Elsey said the company’s goal “is to continue to drive cost out of the business.” Elsey stressed the company’s status as a U.S.-based manufacturer of mold bases with a complete line of components, molding products and hot runner systems.
At PTXPO, PCS is displaying the APSX-PIM V3 automatic desktop plastic injection molding machine. Made in the U.S., the APSX-PIM is designed for continuous or single-cycle plastic part production from a compact 4-by-1-foot package. Introduced in 2017, the APSX-PIM is engineered as an alternative to the traditional injection molding machines used for production, R&D, prototyping, product design, education, research and other plastic part production environments.
In mold components, PCS offers the stainless and M2 ejector pins. PCS positions the corrosion-resistant pins in inch and metric sizes as ideal for medical and PVC molding applications and cleanroom environments. Through-hardened to 56-60 HRC, these pins offer high wear resistance and a tight pin diameter tolerance of 0.0003" for the inch category and 0.005 mm for the metric JIS close-tolerance version.
PCS’ M2 ejector pins are also offered in inch and metric JIS standards, with metric pins available in standard and precision versions. Through-hardened to process highly abrasive plastics, the inch version measures hardness of 60-63 HRC, with the metric version at 58-60 HRC. Suitable for high-temperature applications, the stainless and M2 pins can also function as core pins.
Quick-Installation Date Stamps
The indexable date stamps, which were introduced late in 2025, are designed for quick installation and replacement while providing more efficient lot management and quality control. Featuring a center arrow insert, they can be installed directly from the parting line side without removing the mold plate. One turn of a screwdriver changes the arrow position, and the ball stopper mechanism gives the inserts high positioning accuracy compared with traditional O-ring stoppers. This feature also makes them more resistant to gas and heat during molding at temperatures up to 150°C.
Other PCS products on display in Chicago, which launched previously, include F.I.T.S. inserts, hardened EDM blanks, and the Onyx hot runner controller system, with 12 to 120 zones of temperature control.
