WEB EXCLUSIVE: Citing unprecedented and continuing increases in the cost of raw materials, some nylon 6 suppliers have been aiming to lift prices since late last year. The latest announcement is from DSM Engineering Plastics (U.S. office in Evansville, Ind.), which issued price increases on its Akulon nylon 6 resins and compounds of “at least” 10¢/lb in North America, effective Feb. 1. Similar attempts were made in December by DSM and BASF, with price nominations of 9¢/lb and 7¢/lb, respectively.
