A new addition to the low-cost robotics line from igus of Germany is the ReBeL collaborative robot (cobot) with six-axis articulated arm. The unit has a 2-kg (4.4-lb) payload capacity and reach of 664 mm (26.1 in.). Thanks to its unique all-plastic gearbox (made with igus’ self-lubricating, wear-resistant compounds), the ReBeL has an unusually light weight of 8.2 kg (18 lb).
The cobot boasts an ability to perform 500 picks/min with a 500-g payload and repeatability of ± 1 mm at 7 picks/min. A complete plug-and-play package with control software and power supply costs €4970 (approx. $5219). The company’s RBTX online marketplace offers components and products such as grippers, sensors and software from more than 40 partners, all 100% compatible with each other and the robot. The igus RBTXpert service provides integration assistance via online consulting with a fixed-price guarantee. The company says it provides advice on more than 20 customer projects per week.
